An apparent e-bike fire in a New York City Housing Authority building lobby left a resident injured in Brooklyn on Monday morning.
At 11:24 a.m. on Aug. 29, firefighters responded to the incident at Pink Houses, located at 1307 Loring Avenue in East New York. The firefighters were met by smoke sweeping from the main lobby, and units had to break the main pane glass windows to ventilate the heavy smoke condition.
The fire was brought under control at 12:07 p.m. One resident was taken to Brookdale Hospital for their injuries.
An e-bike was recovered from the scene, and the FDNY’s Hazmat Company was able to confiscate and contain the battery. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshal.
