Police in Brooklyn are seeking the shooter who gunned down a 21-year-old man on Thursday afternoon.
Officers from the 75th Precinct responded to a 911 call and a ShotSpotter activation at the corner of Belmont and Euclid Avenues in East New York at about 12:48 p.m. on March 28. ShotSpotter is the NYPD’s network of sound sensors designed to pickup possible sounds of gunfire, and initiate a rapid police response.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found the victim lying on the ground with a bullet wound to his torso.
EMS rushed the victim to a waiting ambulance, with paramedics administering CPR, that was shuttled off to Brookdale University Hospital. Despite all efforts, the victim died a short time later at the medical facility. Police have not yet released the man’s identity, pending family notification.
Police have not yet provided information about a possible motive for the shooting, or a description of the killer. So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
