A woman in Brooklyn was shot and wounded while waiting at a bus stop on Sunday night, police reported.
The latest episode of gun violence in the borough, which occurred less than 24 hours after two men were shot and killed in separate incidents, broke out near the corner of Church and Utica Avenues in Flatbush at about 7:14 p.m. on May 19.
According to police sources, a 39-year-old woman was sitting at a bus stop waiting for the B35 when gunfire rang out.
Cops say the shots not only pulverized the bus shelter, leaving glass strewn across the sidewalk, but also wounded the commuter in the right leg.
EMS rushed her to Kings County Hospital, where she is expected to survive.
While it is unclear who or what the gunman had been aiming at, police say they do not believe the victim was the intended target. The NYPD did not provide a description of the suspect.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
