The NYPD is investigating the death of a woman who was found with a head injury in a Brooklyn apartment building.
Authorities say that at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, the NYPD responded to a call regarding an aided woman inside a building located at 190 Marcy Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found a 37-year-old woman lying face down in the third floor hallway, unconscious and unresponsive.
EMS responded and while giving the victim aid, they found that she had a contusion to her forehead. She was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Woodhull where she was later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
At this time, it is not clear what the circumstances were that lead to the victim’s death, though a spokesperson for the NYPD stated that a commotion was heard prior to the discovery of her body. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
