Police are investigating the deaths of two people who were found dead in Brooklyn early Friday morning.
Authorities say that at 2:01 a.m. on Oct. 14, police responded to calls asking for a wellness check at an apartment inside 5320 6th Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers interviewed someone who had called 911 within the building and learned that the resident had heard a commotion from within an apartment on the fourth floor.
Cops gained entry to the apartment and found a 61-year-old woman lying in the hallway, unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple lacerations to her head, neck and upper torso. A 52-year-old man was also found on the ground outside the building, unconscious and unresponsive, with signs of trauma indicative of falling from a higher elevation. A knife was recovered close to the man’s body.
Paramedics rushed to the apartment and declared both victims dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death for both victims. The investigation is ongoing.
