Cops are looking to identify the creep they say sexually assaulted a woman in Brooklyn late last month.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 28, authorities say the victim, a 36-year-old woman, was walking on Clarkson Avenue near Bedford Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens when an unknown man struck up a conversation with her. The man then allegedly pushed the woman to the ground, climbed on top of her and began to choke her.
He then allegedly tried to expose himself, but stopped as bystanders intervened. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, heading eastbound on Clarkson Avenue.
The woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault but refused medical attention at the scene, cops said.
Police describe the suspect as a man standing at approximately 5’5″ tall, 180 pounds with a dark complexion, a medium build and “large” black hair in dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, brown pants and black sneakers.
Reports of felony assault are up slightly year-to-date in the 71st Precinct, where the August incident occurred, according to Police Department data. There were 248 reports in the precinct as of Sept. 10, when the most recent statistics are available — up 3.3% from 240 during the same time last year. Meanwhile, unspecified “sex crimes” are on par with last year in the precinct, with 40 reported during the same time frame both years.
