The NYPD released photos of an East Village stabbing suspect wanted for attacking a senior man in an unprovoked attack earlier this month.
Officers from the 9th Precinct responded to a 911 call of the incident, where they say the perp approached the 66-year-old victim and stabbed him in front of 150 East 7th St. at approximately 10:52 p.m. on April 9.
According to police, the perp did not say anything to the victim before he made his violent, unsuspecting move, ambushing him from behind and stabbing him in the back. The two men did not know each other, law enforcement sources said.
After the attack, cops reported, the suspect fled on foot to parts unknown.
The victim suffered a laceration to the back, police said. EMS responded to the scene and transported him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion and a medium build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored jacket, gray hat, and gray and white sneakers.

Violent crime hit the East Village and surrounding neighborhoods hard this month. Just this weekend, a woman was stalked and raped in a residential building in nearby SoHo. Police are searching for the assailant.
On April 9, two women walking through the East Village were ambushed by a hockey stick-swinging goon who struck one woman in the leg. Crossing over to the West Village, two suspects beat up a 17-year-old straphanger, stole his skateboard and snatched his necklace in broad daylight at a West Village subway station on Saturday, April 6.
