With five games spanning across two continents, both the Jets and Giants find themselves taking trips across the pond this coming season.
The Jets will be the first team taking a trip overseas, as they will face the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 6 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. This will be Gang Green’s first trip abroad since 2021, and their fourth international game in franchise history.
New York is 2-1 in games outside of the country historically. One of those wins came in Canada against the Buffalo Bills in 2009 and the other win came against another division rival, the Miami Dolphins, in 2015 at Wembley Stadium.
Gang Green’s lone loss came in their last trip outside the country in 2021, as the Atlanta Falcons took a 27-20 victory in England. Now getting set to take on the Minnesota Vikings, the Jets will have a prime chance to pounce on a rebuilding team.
Even so, the Vikings currently hold a 3-0 record in international games, with their most recent win coming in 2022 in a 28-25 shootout against the New Orleans Saints.
As for the Giants, they too will take a European vacation this season — though they will have a bit longer of their trip than their stadium counterpart Jets.
Big Blue will have the fifth and final international game of the year, matching up against the Carolina Panthers in Munich, Germany on Nov. 10. Similar to the Vikings, the Giants hold a 3-0 record all-time in international contests.
The Giants’ first win came in 2007 at the first-ever NFL game in London where they defeated the Miami Dolphins 13-10. It would be nearly a decade later until Big Blue took another trip abroad, beating the Los Angeles Rams 17-10 in 2016. In their most recent trip in 2022, the Giants pulled off a spectacular 27-22 win that saw them shut out the Green Bay Packers in the second half to pull off the upset.
The Carolina Panthers enter their trip to Germany with a 1-0 record in international games. The lone win coming in 2019 in a 37-26 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Carolina has found themselves in quite the rebuild, selling their assets last year to take Bryce Young as number one overall and giving up their first-round pick in this most recent draft which could have resulted in Caleb Williams. For a Giants team attempting to rebuild on the fly, this matchup against the Panthers towards the later half of the season will be circled as a must-win for Big Blue.
