A man is dead, a teenager is in hospital, and two suspects are being questioned by detectives on Sunday morning after a stabbing left chaos in the Lower East Side.

Cops are questioning two suspects connected to a Lower East Side stabbing on Saturday night that left a man dead and a teenager hospitalized.

According to police sources, the deadly incident unfolded at around 8:32 p.m. on Jan. 18 outside 75 Norfolk St., near the Essex Market and the Regal Cinemas.

Officers from the 7th Precinct received a 911 call of an assault in progress and, upon arrival, discovered two people with stab wounds outside of a nearby T-Mobile store.

Cops say 20-year-old Amir Smith suffered a stab wound to the abdomen while a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back. EMS rushed both individuals to Bellevue Hospital, where Smith, who lived in the East Village, died; the 19-year-old was listed in stable condition.

Two persons of interest were handcuffed at the scene and taken into police custody for questioning.

A large police presence swarmed the area, establishing no fewer than three crime scenes connected to the incident — starting at Norfolk and Delancey Streets and continuing down the block toward Norfolk and Broome Streets.
