Police have released images of the youths accused of brutally beating a straphanger on a Lower Manhattan subway train earlier in the week over $15 in cash.

While police originally suspected about six teens were involved in the horrendous mugging, they now believe up to nine were involved. Cops say the incident unfolded on Wednesday, March 12, at approximately 4:25 a.m. aboard a southbound 6 train as it approached the Canal Street station.

The group approached a 28-year-old man and viciously assaulted him with an onslaught of punches and kicks, which continued even after he fell to the ground. In the midst of the beatdown, the youngsters snatched a debit card and $15 before making off on a Q train.

One of the muggers was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black and white shirt, while a second was spotted wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and black mask.

A third was caught on video without a t-shirt and appeared to be sporting several tattoos.
