Julius Graham, 43, the homeless man accused of stabbing five people in Riverside Park, including an 18-month-old toddler, was indicted yesterday on five counts of attempted first degree murder, five counts of attempted second degree murder, and other assault charges.
Graham "destroyed the sense of safety and respite that all New Yorkers have a right to feel in their city parks. Thanks to a heroic good Samaritan and the police officers who responded, more innocent bystanders were not hurt," said Manhattan DA Cyrus R. Vance, Jr.
Two female joggers, a man walking his dog, a former principal dancer for the New York City Ballet and his young son were all allegedly stabbed Oct. 1 by Graham, wielding a broken pair of scissors, before a bystander was able to subdue him.
Graham faces the possibility of 25 years to life in prison.
His Legal Aid attorney did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
