A man leaped to his death from a posh Midtown hotel on Tuesday morning, triggering a major investigation, police said.
According to law enforcement sources, cops from the 17th Precinct and EMS rushed to the Kimberly Hotel located at 145 East 50th St. at around 10:30 a.m. on July 16 after receiving a report of a man with a serious injury.
Responding officers found a 64-year-old man dead in the rear of the building. Upon further investigation, police believe the man took his own life by hurling off the building’s 20th floor. No criminality is suspected at this time.
The scene stunned guests and onlookers as both police rushed into and out of the location, and the Medical Examiner’s office tended to the remains.
“I can’t believe this, how horrible,” one female guest remarked when learning of the death.
The body was transferred from the hotel to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the man’s death.
