Man shot dead inside Bronx bodega, gunman still at large: NYPD

Bronx detectives are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man at a bodega on Monday morning.

According to law enforcement sources, the 32-year-old victim was gunned down inside the Gourmet Deli Corp. at the corner of University Avenue and Brandt Place in Morris Heights at around 7:27 a.m. on Oct. 21.

Officers from the 46th Precinct rushed to the scene in response to a 911 call about the incident. When they arrived, they found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso, authorities said.

EMS immediately brought the severely injured and bleeding man to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police are withholding his identity pending family notification.

Police could not yet pinpoint a motive for the brutal shooting and do not yet have information on possible suspect (s) involved in the crime, per a preliminary investigation.

So far, no arrests have been made. Meanwhile, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
