A man apparently shot himself to death in public in East Harlem along the East River esplanade on Monday, police reported.
The shocking incident unfolded at the waterfront park located on 120th Street and Pleasant Avenue, at around 11:01 a.m. on March 18 as traffic zoomed by along the adjacent FDR Drive.
Police said a pedestrian came across the 20-year-old man, who was found unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head, and notified 911.
Emergency Services Units arrived at the scene where he was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity.
Investigators believe the gunshot was self-inflicted.
