A Manhattan NYPD officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver during an attempted traffic stop on Sunday night, police reported.
Law enforcement sources said the incident happened at about 9:05 p.m. on Jan. 21 in front of an apartment building at 115 Vermilyea Ave. in Inwood.
According to police sources, officers from the 34th Precinct attempted to stop the driver of a white sedan for an observed traffic violation.
But during the stop, police noted, the driver slammed on the gas pedal and attempted to drive away. In the process, the motorist struck the officer, who fell to the pavement.
The driver then fled in the white sedan down Vermilyea Avenue to parts unknown, authorities said.
EMS rushed the injured officer to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Pavilion Hospital. The cop was treated for minor injuries and later released.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
