Police are looking for a suspect in wacky getup who allegedly robbed a 23-year-old woman on a 1 train platform in Midtown on Saturday.
The victim was standing on the northbound 1 train platform at the 59th Street-Columbus Circle station at approximately 3:40 a.m. on May 4 when the male suspect approached her, law enforcement sources said. The pair then got into a heated exchange of words, though police were unable to confirm what was said.
As the verbal dispute ensued, the suspect then grabbed two cell phones from the woman’s hand, causing minor injuries, according to officials. The suspect then fled the station in an unknown direction before cops from the Midtown North Precinct and Transit District 1 arrived.
EMS brought the victim to Mount Sinai West, where she was treated and released.
Police released a photo and video footage of the suspect. He is described as having a dark complexion and is approximately 5 foot, 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds.
