Police released photos of a woman in Midtown who allegedly snatched a senior citizen’s walker as the victim walked to a bus stop during a random attack last week.
According to police, the victim, a 71-year-old female, was walking with a friend in the vicinity of East 59th Street and Third Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on April 13 when the unprovoked assault occurred.
In a surprise attack from behind, police reported, the suspect grabbed the woman’s walker as she walked, causing her to lose balance and crash down onto the sidewalk.
After the callous assault, the perp then fled the scene on foot, traveling westbound on 59th Street before cops from the 17th Precinct arrived. The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.
It is unclear right now if the walker was recovered or left in the hands of the perp, police said, but the investigation remains ongoing.
Police described the suspect as a female with medium complexion and approximately 50 years old. She was last seen wearing a black coat, black hat and glasses.
