New hotels are checking in

A 175-room hotel under construction at 132 Fourth Ave. at E. 13th St., above, was formerly being developed by Sam Chang but will now be a Hyatt Hotel. It’s expected to open this year. Nearby, the Gem Hotel, at 52 W. 13th St. between Fifth and Sixth Aves., reportedly to have 113 rooms, is also still under construction. A smaller boutique hotel, the Verite, at 13 E. 19th St., with 19 rooms opened last month.
