Harlem Week is packed with fun for New Yorkers of all ages, but get that resume ready because it is also an opportunity to find your next job.
The 2024 NYC Jobs & Career Fair is coming to the iconic event on Aug. 14 at City College. The free event will feature over 50 job exhibitors from the private, nonprofit and government sectors.
Whether you are a recent college graduate, a seasoned employee or just looking for a career change, the fair will have opportunities for New Yorkers with varied skills and interests. Job seekers will meet employers face-to-ace, explore diverse career paths, secure career resources and get the latest information on emerging job markets, including the booming green job economy.
Government exhibitors representing city, state and federal agencies will be on site, including the NYPD, FDNY, NYC Parks, the FBI and U.S. Secret Service.
Private sector representatives, including exhibitors from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Northwell Health, Mount Sinai Health System, Con Edison and many others, will also be there.
“We want to get as many people in this venue to help job seekers, period. That’s really what we want to do,” Baron Carr, senior producer of the fair, told amNew York Metro. “If they can walk out of the hall with an interview or a job, I will be excited.
Lloyd Williams, president of the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, said the fair has grown each year.
“We did this event at City College of New York two years ago,” Williams said. “We were dramatically pleased because we had over 500 persons looking for jobs and looking for career opportunities come out to the expo.”
Last year, the event was even more crowded, with 2,500 attendees, Williams added.
Discussion panels and workshops
This year, two informative workshops will be held at the event:
- Careers in Green Jobs, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., will focus on exciting career paths that support renewable energy and environmental justice.
- The Public Safety Panel, 1 to 2 p.m., will explore careers in law enforcement, public and emergency services.
