A Queens teenager died of his injuries after he was shot in Elmhurst on Wednesday afternoon, July 7.
According to police, at 4:25 p.m. on July 7 the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding a man shot outside of 95-35 40th Road. Upon their arrival, officers found 17-year-old Eduardo Hernandez, of Corona, with two gunshot wounds to his torso.
Hernandez was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, two people were arrested in connection to two separate shootings in the Bronx and Midtown. On May 9, the NYPD responded to a call regarding a person shot at 1203 Westchester Avenue in the Bronx at 2:38 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found 32-year-old Allen Steven Urena, of Taylor Avenue, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Urena was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
On July 7, officers from the 41st Precinct arrested 35-year-old James Kenny, of 3rd Avenue in East Harlem, in connection to the shooting. He was charged with murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Another arrest took place on Wednesday in connection to a recent shooting in Midtown. On June 27, the NYPD respond to calls regarding a man shot West 45th Street and 7th Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers found that a 21-year-old man had been shot in the back.
It was determined that the shooter had fired the gun, hitting the victim in the process, before fleeing eastbound on 45th Street towards 6th Avenue. The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition in stable condition.
On July 7, a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody for the shooting. His identity is being withheld due to his age. He was charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
