Temperatures hit a record low in Central Park Saturday morning while New Yorkers remained bundled under their covers, the National Weather Service said.

The low point of 24 degrees broke the previous record of 28 degrees, set all the way back in 1933, according to a NWS meteorologist. To any who braved the cold, it felt like 15 degrees with windchill factored in.

Temperatures are expected to peak in the mid-30s Saturday afternoon, the result of an arctic cold front that blew into the city Friday morning, the NWS said.

“To put that in perspective, our normal high this time of the year in the city is 56 degrees, and the normal low is 43,” said meteorologist Faye Morrone, “so we’re actually seeing high temperatures that will be lower than what we typically see overnight.”

Get your fill of cuddling and Neflix binging Saturday night before the winter preview ends Sunday, when temperatures will rise to the mid 40s.

Monday will see a high of 47 degrees before creeping lower to 37 overnight and into the early morning, the NWS said.
