If you’ve got picnic plans with mom this Sunday, you may need to find something better suited for indoors.
After a sunny Friday, rain is expected to hit the city for the rest of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday’s high will reach 72 degrees and drop to a low of 53 overnight.
And that’s when the wet weather comes in.
Rain will start around 3 or 4 a.m. on Saturday, with heavier showers starting at 8 a.m., according to NWS meteorologist Faye Morrone. Isolated thunderstorms are possible between 2 p.m. and midnight, and temperatures should reach a high near 65 degrees.
Rain could taper off early Sunday morning as temps dip to 54 degrees, but the daylight hours of Mother’s Day will likely see on-and-off showers and cloudy skies, according to Morrone.
“There’s a better chance of seeing the sun the later in the day you go,” she said.
The NWS forecasts that there will be a 40 percent chance of precipitation throughout Sunday, as temperatures will only reach up to 62 degrees before dropping to a low of 53.
