Federal agents raided the home of the NYPD’s disgraced former Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey early Thursday morning, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced Thursday.

The Manhattan US Attorney’s office is leading the apparent federal action, Tisch said.

The probe appears to be looking into allegations that Maddrey — as the NYPD’s top uniformed cop, responsible for managing the NYPD’s crime-fighting strategies, quality-of-life programs and operations — repeatedly sexually assaulted a female subordinate and showered her with excessive amounts of overtime to keep her quiet.

Maddrey, who suddenly resigned over the allegations late last month, vehemently denies the claims. John Chell was named interim Chief of Department following Maddrey’s departure; Tisch removed the interim label on New Year’s Eve.

“At my direction, the Internal Affairs Bureau of the New York City Police Department is working with law enforcement authorities to investigate allegations against former Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey,” Tisch said in a Jan. 2 statement. “Maddrey was suspended from the Department this morning, as law enforcement agents executed search warrants at several locations, including his residence. Any further inquiries about this matter should be directed to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.”

SDNY spokesperson Nicholas Biase declined to comment on the raid.

Video of the raid posted by Freedomnews TV news outlets on X shows federal agents walking out of Maddrey’s Rosedale, Queens home on Jan. 2 with boxes and getting into unmarked black sedans.

The revelation means that Maddrey, a close friend of Mayor Eric Adams, is just the latest in a slew of officials in Hizzoner’s orbit to have their home searched by federal agents. Some of those other officials include former NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, former First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and former Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks.

Maddrey’s alleged misconduct revealed in a Dec. 21 New York Post report includes repeatedly asking NYPD Lt. Quathisha Epps for sexual favors.

“He wanted to have anal sex, vaginal sex, oral sex,” Epps told the New York Post. “He was always asking me to kiss his penis.”

The former chief of department allegedly bought Epps’ silence by lavishing her with overtime. Epps reportedly earned $204,000 in overtime last year — making her the department’s top earner in Fiscal Year 2024 with earnings of $400,000.

In a Dec. 27, 2024 news conference, Maddrey’s attorney Lambros Lambrou said, “We can tell you now those allegations are a lie, they’re not true, we deny every aspect of them.”

The allegations against Maddrey led to a massive shakeup at the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, which is responsible for investigating police misconduct allegations. Tisch, who became the city’s top cop in late November, ousted Internal Affairs Chief Miguel Iglesias and reassigned numerous other leading members of the bureau.
