NYC SHOOTINGS: One person dies in Bronx shooting despite rain squelching most violence

One person was shot dead on Thursday in the Bronx as rain and high winds kept most people indoors citywide.

This follows several days in which teenagers were the victims of gun violence, including two teens killed on Wednesday in Brooklyn.

The latest homicide occurred at 4:39 p.m. Thursday in which a 35-year-old man was shot in the torso in front of East 196 Street and Grand Concourse in Fordham Manor. Police from the 52nd Precinct found the victim unconscious and EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

There was no description of the assailant or any further information on this shooting.

Shootings are nearly double that of last year with more than 1,569 victims of gun violence so far this year. Homicides are now at 373, a 33 percent increase over last year.

Arrests in two shooting homicides

Police say they made four arrests in two separate shootings in the last two days.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Brooklyn man for the Aug. 9, shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Queens.

Police say Devante Richards, 27, of Montgomery Street in Flatbush, was arrested for the shooting death of Jonathan Distant, 25, of the Bronx in front of 146-56 183 Street in Jamaica, Queens.

Police from the 105th Precinct nabbed Richards on Wednesday for the shooting and is now charging him with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The motive for the shooting was not immediately revealed.

In the second arrest, three people are being charged in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old Bronx man on September 12.

Police arrested Reddick Dysean, 21, of Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn; Tyrone Powell, 22, of Walton Avenue, the Bronx; and Quamel Wilson, 23, of Kingsland Avenue in the Bronx. All are being charged with murder, while Wilson is being additionally charged with possession of a firearm.

Investigators say that at 1:33 a.m., police from the 40th Precinct received a call for two people shot at 3080 Park Avenue in the Jackson Houses, a NYCHA development in the Bronx. Cops found two men, a 23-year-old shot in the head and a 26-year-old shot in the groin. The 23-year-old died at the scene and the 26-year-old was in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital.

The murder victim was identified as Christopher Pagan, of Park Avenue in the Bronx. All three assailants are being charged with the murder, though it is not clear who fired the fatal shots.
