Two pedestrians were killed in separate crashes in Brooklyn over the weekend, according to the NYPD.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, 30-year-old Brian Irizarry was standing on the sidewalk at 4th Avenue and 60th Street in Sunset Park when he lost his balance and fell into the roadway, police say.

At that point, he was run over by an International MV607 truck. EMS pronounced Irizarry dead on arrival.

Just hours later, at 3:45 a.m. on Nov. 16, police say a 60-year-old man was crossing Flatbush Avenue at Hendrickson Place in Marine Park, apparently outside the crosswalk, when he was hit by the 23-year-old driver of a Mercedes sedan driving south on Flatbush.

The man, whom police have not identified pending family notification, was also pronounced dead on arrival.

Both drivers remained on the scene, and neither was arrested. The Mercedes driver was taken to Brookdale Hospital with minor head injuries and was reported in stable condition.

As of Nov. 10, Brooklyn had recorded the same number of traffic fatalities as were seen at the same point last year, 60. Citywide, deaths are down 2.2%.
