Chinatown killing

Police who responded to a report of a woman unconscious at 20 Confucius Plaza at 7:40 p.m. Tues., Oct. 9 found the victim, so far identified only as an Asian woman in her 30s, dead at the scene. The following day, police arrested Michael Lenahan, 29, and charged him with murdering the victim. Police said the body was found underneath a pile of clothes in a bedroom and she had been suffocated, 1010wins.com reported. The two met at a club, went back to his apartment and argued, several news sites reported Wednesday.

Park stabbing

A man who was playing cards on Monday afternoon Oct. 1 in Columbus Park across from the Criminal Courts stabbed a man he accused of cheating, police said. The suspect, Shui Guo, 54, was charged with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to Manhattan prosecutors. After the victim, 48, walked away from the argument, Guo followed him and stabbed him from behind with a kitchen knife, according to the charge.

Armed robbery

Police charged Nicasio Vargas, 31, with armed robbery, accusing him of pulling a gun and a knife on a 50-year-old victim in the Alfred Smith Houses grounds at 4:45 a.m. Tues., Oct. 2 and stealing his eyeglasses, bag and papers. The incident began earlier when the suspect and the victim started drinking together on the street at the corner of Catherine and Monroe Sts., according to police. Vargas is being held on two counts of first degree robbery.

Pickpocket arrest

A woman standing on the checkout queue at Dean & Deluca, 560 Broadway at Prince St., on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, saw a man behind her with her wallet under his arm after she had felt someone going into her bag, police said. The woman, 29, alerted a security guard who apprehended Manuel O’Ferrel, 45, and held him for police, who charged him with grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
