‘Break it up!’
A raucous argument between two groups of young women brought police to the corner of Barrow St. and Seventh Ave. South around 5:30 a.m. Mon., May 30. At least four of the women refused police orders to break it up, and resisted arrest as police handcuffed them. Police had to call for backup and charged Corli Ramos, 19, of Manhattan, and Eileen Nunez, 17, of the Bronx, with resisting arrest. Two other women, both from the Bronx, received desk appearance summonses for disorderly conduct.
Dunkin defendant
A suspect in the May 16 teen mob invation of the Dunkin Donuts at 75 Christopher St. surrendered to Sixth Precinct police at 9:30 a.m. Mon., May 30. The suspect, identified only as a 15-year-old boy, was charged as a juvenile offender with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, weapons possession, menacing and riot. Three days earlier, police sought the public’s assistance to find Mark Wright, a 6-foot-tall, skinny, black male in connection with the incident. Wright’s age was unknown.
Village View drug charges
Elisiel Rivera, 43, who was arrested in his ninth-floor apartment at 60 First Ave. in the Village View complex on Friday morning May 20, is facing two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as possession of marijuana, cocaine and Oxycontin pills. Rivera, who called police to report a push-in robbery in his apartment at about 10:30 a.m., also had $8,700 in the apartment and $1,470 in his wallet when he was arrested, according to the complaint filed with Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. Rivera told police, “I sell a little weed,” the complaint says.
Waiter in scam
Mohammad Siraj, 31, was charged with stealing $91,000 between Jan. 2, 2009, and March 13 of this year from Todd English’s Olives restaurant in the W Hotel at 200 Park Ave. South off Union Square, where he worked as a waiter. The theft involved adding extra tip money to his checks on the restaurant’s computer, according to the complaint.
Essex St. robber
Police are seeking information on a suspect armed with a large knife who entered the Sunflower Video store, 119 Essex St., at 10:50 a.m. April 22 and took an undisclosed amount of money from the register. The suspect, described as a black man between 35 and 45, about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with short dark hair, entered the store again on May 3, but a clerk fought him off and he fled without taking anything. Hit-and-run arrest
A BMW involved in a May 17 hit-and-run that injured an N.Y.P.D. traffic enforcement agent on duty at Canal St. near the Manhattan Bridge was apprehended along with its driver on E. 79th St. between First and Second Aves. on Sat., May 29. The driver and owner of the car, Ibrahim Yazici, refused to answer questions and told police he was represented by a lawyer. He was released pending further investigation. The hit-and-run victim sustained a separated shoulder and abrasion to both knees and was treated at Bellevue hospital. A camera at the Manhattan Bridge at the time of the incident taped the gray 2001 BMW, and witnesses supplied the license plate number, which was entered in the police plate reader system.
Off-duty officer busted
Police stopped a car at the corner of Hudson and Spring Sts. at 5:40 p.m. Fri., May 27, and charged the driver, Christopher Connolly, 28, with possession of heroin with intent to sell. Connolly, an off-duty police officer, was also charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license. The police Internal Affairs Bureau officer who arrested Connolly found 62 glassine envelopes of heroin in two pill bottles tucked into his waistband, according to the complaint filed with the office of District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.
Subway death
A man, 69, fell or jumped in front of a Brooklyn-bound L train at the Union Square subway station at 11:35 a.m. Wed., May 25, police said. The victim’s identity was withheld pending family notification.
Soho watch theft
A man walked into Folli Follie, the jewelry boutique at 133 Prince St., around 5:50 p.m. Thurs., May 19, grabbed a rose gold watch valued at $1,185 from a drawer behind a display case and fled with it, police said.
Subway cell snatch
A thief snatched the cell phone of a Brooklyn woman sitting in a C train around 6:45 p.m. Wed., May 11, and fled at the Canal St. station, police said. The victim, 35, a Brooklyn resident, was looking at her photos on the cell phone when the thief grabbed it.
Canal cash snatch
A man was buying a cell phone from a vendor at the corner of Church and Canal Sts. around 5 p.m. Fri., May 20, when a thief ran past, snatched $250 from his hand and fled, police said.
Former friends fight
A Brooklyn woman, 20, told police she was on the northwest corner of Broadway and Prince St. shortly before 8 p.m. Sat., May 21, when two female former friends of hers started to argue with her and one of them hit her in the eye with a cell phone. The two suspects, ages 22 and 19, fled.
