The Sixth Precinct cabaret unit gave Lindsay Conrad, 19, a summons for criminal impersonation at 1:15 a.m. Sat., July 9, for using a New York State driver’s license that wasn’t hers in order to be admitted to Tenjune, the club at 26 Little W. 12th St.
Grisly bar bash A patron of Grisly Pear, the bar at 107 MacDougal St., told police that a fellow patron hit him in the back of the head with a beer glass around 3:30 a.m. Sat., July 9. Daniel Labrado, 21, was charged with second-degree assault.
Forger of e.vil Ruth Villavicencio, 30, was arrested and charged with six counts of larceny, forgery and identity theft for stealing a total of $87,577 from Queen of e.vil, the clothing boutique at 666 Broadway near Bond St., by forging 78 checks from May 1, 2010, to May 25, 2011, according to a complaint filed by the Manhattan district attorney. The defendant, who worked as a bookkeeper for the boutique, forged the name of the owner on company checks made out to herself, the complaint says.
Gunpoint car theft Two men, one of them armed with a handgun, approached a victim who was sitting in his car parked at the curb in front of 107 W. 17th St. near Sixth Ave. around 2:08 a.m. Mon., June 20, and demanded his car keys, cell phone and jewelry, police said.
The pair drove off in the car, valued at $70,000, and with the jewelry, valued at more than $20,000. Police apprehended Justin McNeilli, 26, the following day and charged him with robbery, larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The accomplice was not apprehended.
‘Phlite’ writer busted Police cited Andrew Rubiera, 29, for graffitiing in the vicinity of 60 Gansevoort St. around 3:30 a.m. Sat., July 9. Rubiera used green paint marker to put his tag, “Phlite,” on three locations in the Meatpacking District, police said.
‘I want the money, quick’ Police are seeking a man who made off with $1,160 from the Capital One bank branch at 21 University Place near E. Eighth St. around 2:30 p.m. Tues., June 28. The suspect passed a note to a teller that said, “I want the money. Don’t do anything stupid. No dye packs. I don’t want to have to shot anyone. Quick.” He told the teller he wanted only 100s and 50s, and warned her not to shout or he would shoot.
East Village holdups Police are seeking two suspects in a series of East Village armed street robberies.
Two of the incidents occurred on Mon., June 27. At 4:20 a.m. the robbers, one wielding a handgun, held up a man, 29, on E. Seventh St. across from Tompkins Square Park, demanded his property and fled on foot west with it. At 4:40 a.m. the two robbers stopped a woman, 20, opposite 510 E. 11th St. between Avenues A and B, and fled west with her cell phone and wallet.
On Wed., July 6, the two suspects held up two women on E. 11th St. near Avenue B and demanded their handbags. When the victims held onto their bags, the suspects punched them in the face and managed to make off with one of the bags containing $200, credit cards, a cell phone and a digital camera.
One suspect was described as Hispanic, between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, having a long, black ponytail, wearing blue jeans and a baseball cap and armed with a handgun. The other suspect was described as Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt.
Union Sq. fatal beating Police arrested a homeless man, Keenan Bryce, 29, on July 9 and charged him with murder in the July 8 beating death of Stanley Novak, 56, in Union Square Park. The victim, a resident of the men’s shelter at 400 E. 30th St., was found with severe head injuries in the park at 15th St. at 1:21 a.m., and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he died at 7:19 p.m. Bryce was arrested the following day.
Deutsche Bank acquittal
The third individual defendant in the negligent homicide case in the death of two firefighters arising from the April 2007 fire in the Deutsche Bank building, 90 West St., was found not guilty last week after a non-jury trial.
The corporate defendant, the John Galt Corp., a company organized in 2006 to demolish the office tower that had been damaged in the 2001 World Trade Center attack, was found guilty of misdemeanor reckless endangerment and faces a $5,000 fine at the September sentencing.
Mitchel Alvo, Galt’s asbestos abatement director, was acquitted on Wed., July 6, in a non-jury trial. The week before, a jury found two other defendants, Jeffrey Melofchik, safety manager, and Salvatore DePaola, foreman, not guilty.
Alexander Hagen, president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, said later that the three individuals were scapegoats. The Lower Manhattan Development Corp., which is the agency that owns the building, and others never investigated were responsible for the deaths of Firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino, Hagen said.
Ludlow St. fire A kitchen fire that raged through the top-floor apartment in the five-story building at 41 Ludlow St. near Hester St. on Monday morning July 11 left six family members homeless. There were no injuries, according to a Fire Department spokesperson. The 7:30 a.m. fire’s cause was under investigation.
Hudson River Park body Police responded to a 911 call at 6:10 a.m. Sun., July 10, about a body lying in Hudson River Park at Bank and West Sts. A white male, 61, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said no criminality was suspected.
Bag snatch A woman walking to work at 8 a.m. Thurs., July 7, was stopped by a mugger who grabbed her shoulder bag at the northeast corner of King St. and Sixth Ave. She struggled and sustained scrapes and cuts, but the thief made off with the bag, police said.
PATH assault Police arrested three women for beating another woman in the Christopher St. PATH station at 9:10 p.m., June 26. Jalissa Haynes, 22, Trivia Morrison, 20, and Dahlia Holland, 19, were charged with third-degree assault.
Meatpacking facial Police arrested Arthur Rubinoff, 33, around 2:35 a.m. Sun., July 3, and charged him with assault for kicking a fellow patron in the face at Ajna Bar, 25 Little W. 12th St.
