Pole swinger
Two Sixth Precinct police officers responded to a call at 1:46 a.m. Sat., Aug. 13, about a fight in progress in front of Harmony Video, 139 Christopher St., and observed a suspect wildly swinging a metal pole. An injured victim, 24, told police that he had pepper-sprayed in the suspect’s direction when the fight started. When the officers, John Fryer and Steve Annarelli, apprehended the suspect, he struck out and resisted being handcuffed, police said. Reynolds Goode, 36, was subdued and charged with assault. The victim and the two police officers, who were reportedly injured, were treated at Bellevue Hospital.
Another pole swinger Police arrested Akramul Islam, 17, after observing him at the southwest corner of Greenwich Ave. and W. 10th St. “with a metal pole and flailing violently.” Police said they found two pieces of official ID in two different names on the suspect and charged him with possession of forged instruments.
Stolen property Police responded to a call about a man with a gun in front of a restaurant at 314 Bleecker St. at Grove St. around 12:50 a.m. Tues., Aug. 9. They stopped a suspect, Sean Bradshaw, 21, who had two debit cards with conflicting names and charged him with possession of stolen property. No gun was found.
Yelling to biting A man walking on the northwest corner of Christopher and Bleecker Sts. was yelling at the top of his lungs at 12:20 a.m. Thurs., Aug. 11, when police offers told him to quiet down. The suspect, Joshua Brown-Jaime, 18, shouted an obscene epithet, told the cops he could do whatever he wanted, and bit one officer on the hand and another on the arm before he was subdued.
Cleaned out An employee of Meurice Garment Care, 31 University Place, was arrested on Wed., Aug. 10, and charged with stealing a total of $6,000 from the dry cleaners from April 17 to Aug. 3.
Soho phone snatch A Brooklyn man, 24, was walking down Greene St. between Spring and Prince Sts. talking on his cell phone around 7:30 p.m. Fri., Aug. 12, when a thief grabbed it from his left hand and ran north on Greene toward Prince St., police said.
(Top)shoplift An employee at Topshop, the clothing boutique on Broadway near Broome St., stopped a woman leaving the store at 8:30 p.m. Fri., Aug. 12, without paying for clothing valued at $230 in a shopping bag. Natasha Parks, 24, was charged with larceny.
Anchor (bag) away A female patron of The Anchor Bar, at 310 Spring St., was about to pay for her drinks at 1:30 a.m. Sun., Aug 14, when she discovered that her Louis Vuitton bag, containing her BlackBerry, Canon camera, U.S. passport, credit cards and prescription medicine, had been stolen.
Leaving with handbag A bouncer at The Bunker, the club at 22 Ninth Ave. between Little W. 12th and W. 13th Sts. in the Meatpacking District, spotted a man leaving the place with a handbag that he wasn’t carrying when he came in, police said. Ricardo Colon, 29, was arrested and charged with larceny. The bag was returned to a woman patron who had reported that it stolen. Another female club patron also reported her bag had been stolen, but it was not found, police said.
East River floater A police harbor unit responded to a call at 7:14 a.m. Mon., Aug. 8, about a body in the East River at 23rd St. The unit retrieved the body of a white woman, between ages 50 and 60. The Medical Examiner’s Office was investigating the cause of death.
