Mugged in Trump Soho A man, 29, was reading his iPad in a public area on the ground floor of the Trump Soho hotel at Spring and Varick Sts. around 2:50 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 18, when two men attacked him, police said. One suspect put a chokehold on the victim, the other grabbed the victim’s iPad, and both fled north on Varick St. Employees of the hotel called 911 and gave chase. Tavone Jennett, 16, and Jonathan McLeod, 19, were arrested nine blocks north at W. Fourth St. at Sixth Ave. and charged with robbery, police said.
Phony broker Renato Bardini, 48, was charged with fraudulently “renting” an E. Third St. apartment to two victims. Bardini ran an online ad for an apartment at 82 E. Third St. in July and August, and showed the apartment to each of the two victims, collecting $575 from one and $3,350 from the other, even though he did not have permission or authority to show or rent the apartment, according to the complaint filed by the Manhattan district attorney. It was not known how Bardini was able to gain access to the apartment.
Seek Smith Houses killer Police are asking the public for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the Sept. 1, 2010, shooting death of a resident of the Al Smith Houses on the Lower East Side. The suspect, Pierre Hecker, 29, was seen fleeing on foot down Madison St. toward Pearl St. just after the shooting, police said.
The victim, Anthony Evans, 28, of 182 South St. in the Smith Houses, was found at 2:53 a.m. in front of the building at 46 Madison St. in the project with three gunshot wounds, in the torso, the right arm and the head. He was taken to New York Downtown Hospital on Beekman St., where he was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect, described as a 6-foot-5-inch-tall, thin-built black man, was living at the time in Schomburg Plaza, at 1295 Fifth Ave. at 110th St.

A stranger answered A Brooklyn woman, 69, went shopping in Soho on Saturday afternoon Aug. 13 at Max Studio clothing boutique at Spring St. and West Broadway when she discovered that her wallet — with her driver’s license, debit cards and $300 cash — and her cell phone were missing from her bag. The victim called her cell number a short time later and a stranger answered, police said.
Menacing A man, 46, told police that a woman menaced him with a handgun around 9 p.m. Sun., Aug. 21, in front of 75 Greenwich Ave. near Bank St. Police arrested Marisol Rivera, 26, and found the gun was an imitation. However, Rivera was found to have diazepam, a powerful tranquilizer, in her possession without a prescription, police said.
Hit with a stool A group of four or five angry young men followed a man, 33, out of a bar in the West Village at about 2:40 a.m. Sun., Aug. 21, and started beating him, police said. The victim ducked into a video store at 242 W. 14th St. but the gang followed him and one of them hit him over the head with a stool, police said. By the time police arrived, all but one of the group had fled. But Michael Harris, 19, was apprehended and charged with assault.
Another attack Three men followed a victim out of a club around 4 a.m. Sat., Aug. 20, and attacked him on the northwest corner of Seventh Ave. South at Charles St., police said. After one of the suspects cut the victim’s scalp with a razor, the trio fled, but police were able to arrest one of them, Richard Pertet, 26, and charge him with felony assault.
Money-order theft The owner of University Chemists, a pharmacy at 74 University Place, told police that he discovered an employee had been making out Western Union money orders to himself without paying for them between June 28 and Aug. 16. The suspect, George Andropoulos, 31, was charged with larceny for stealing money orders with a total value of $1,894.
Police are guitar heroes A man parked his car at the curb in front of 50 E. 11th St. between University Place and Broadway on the evening of Aug. 17 to visit a friend nearby. He returned around 1 a.m. to find his right rear window broken and electronic guitar accessories with a total value of $3,940 gone. Police arrested Guillermo Nicolas, 25, and Edwin Martinez, 52, and charged them with burglary and larceny.
