A Ride Less Than Grand
A Downtown express rider exiting the soon-to-reopen Fulton subway center lost nearly 8 grand in cash when a man grabbed her pocketbook as she was walking up the stairs on a Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The 39-year-old woman got off a southbound 4 train June 3rd at 3 p.m., and was walking to the Broadway and John St. exit when a 30-something robber grabbed her pocketbook and ran back into the station.
The woman said she was carrying $7,850 in cash, an iPhone 5 and a $300 black leather handbag, all of which were stolen.
The large subway labyrinth has remained open throughout the multi-year renovation project and is scheduled to reopen on June 26.
Window shoplifting
Three brazen shoplifters walked into Porsche Design Tuesday in Soho and sped off with a $2,000 bag on display in the window, cops said.
One female suspect took the fuchsia TwinBag and dropped it in her male accomplice’s white shopping bag at the store on 465 W. Broadway, 6:30 p.m. June 10, police said. The trio, which included a second female suspect, then fled.
Fold-up bikes stolen
An Upper East Side man and presumably a companion undoubtedly regret not bringing their folding bikes into Soho’s Novecento restaurant to dine Saturday night, since their rides were stolen during the meal.
One victim reported the theft of both folding bikes, valued at $2,200 and $860 June 7, and police did not identify a second victim. The bikes were chained to a pole near Grand St. at 350 W. Broadway at 6 p.m., and when the man returned at 7:30, the chains were cut and the bikes were gone.
Bandits target baristas
Two Starbucks baristas had their stuff stolen as they were slinging lattes during their Wednesday afternoon shift in Soho.
Both put their belongings in a storage area that’s secured with a coded door accessible only to employees at the 482 W. Broadway Starbucks, police said. The items were taken some time between 1:15 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. on June 4.
One employee, a 20-year-old man, lost his iPad Mini, valued at $350, an Apple charger and a $100-Coach bag. The other, a 36-year-old woman, lost her iPhone, her monthly MetroCard, a debit car and her wallet, which only had $1 in it.
Purse picked
A sneaky clubber stole a 23-year-old woman’s phone and wallet at Parlor club 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
The woman told police she put a purse on a shelf only for a few minutes at the Hudson Square club, but when she went to check, she noticed these items missing: her iPhone 5, valued at $600, her wallet, $20, her driver’s license and bank card.
Fast food thief
A Parisian tourist sampling American cuisine at a FiDi McDonald’s, had his wallet swiped last Saturday just after 3 in the afternoon. The Frenchman put his blazer containing his wallet behind his chair on the second floor of the Mickey D’s at 160 Broadway on June 7. He said another man came up from behind, took the wallet and quickly exited the restaurant.
