Man in Queens found shot dead behind store: cops

Queens detectives are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man early on Sunday morning.

Police sources said the murder happened at about 3:04 a.m. on Nov. 24 in the rear of a store at 1025 Beach 20th St. in Far Rockaway.

Officers from the 101st Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found the victim, a 35-year-old man shot multiple times in the chest.

EMS units rushed the man to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said. The motive for the shooting is unknown, police sources said Sunday, as is the description of the shooter.

Through Nov. 17, the 101st Precinct had three murders year-to-date, according to the most recent CompStat report; there were no homicides in the command at the same point in 2023. Moreover, shootings are also up in the 101st Precinct, from 11 last year to 15 this year.
