Three armed crooks went on a violent crime spree this week, robbing shops at gunpoint and stealing thousands in cash from shops throughout upper Manhattan and the Bronx, law enforcement sources reported Wednesday.
Police are investigating the string of robberies that started in Washington Heights on Monday, March 25, at approximately 11:30 p.m., when the trio brandished a gun at 553 W. 207 St., grabbing an unknown amount of cash from the register before fleeing in a black Honda Pilot, heading westbound on W. 207 Street, police said.
The next day, police said, two similar robberies occurred in the same area, this time at 804 W. 181 St. and 3557 Broadway, happening only minutes apart at 8:45 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. The perps were not successful in taking any money or property from the first location, but got away with approximately $2,000 at the Broadway store.
In both incidents, authorities said, the suspects fled the scene in a blue vehicle.
Law enforcement sources said the same perpetrators then had a field day in the Bronx on Wednesday, March 27, hitting stores in West Farms, Bronxdale and Woodlawn and all within minutes of each other, starting at approximately 3:31 a.m.
Police said the three men entered 443 Morris Park Ave., brandished a gun and snagged $160 from the register. All three suspects fled the scene in a blue vehicle, heading northbound on Morris Park Avenue.
Minutes later, at approximately 3:40 a.m., the suspects held up 2090 Bronxdale Ave., demanding the victim open the register, authorities said. One suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed an unknown amount of cash from the register before all three men fled on foot northbound on Bronx Park East, authorities said.
Wrapping up the early morning spree at approximately 4 a.m., police said the suspects produced a firearm and removed $1,000 from the register at 1 E. 233 St. before fleeing in a vehicle to an unknown location.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents. Police released photos of the suspects and said they are all males. A blue car was used in some of the robberies.
