Parks Department workers recently have been on a statue-cleaning campaign in parks around Downtown. They were recently in Washington Square Park sprucing up the memorial to engineer Alexander Lyman Holley, a pioneer in steel manufacturing, left. They also were spotted this week in Soho Square buffing up the statue of General Jose Artigas, the national hero of Uruguay.
