New Yorkers’ beloved $1 cheese pizza slice, which went the way of the dodo due to economics, is making a long-awaited but brief comeback, thanks to Seamless, a food delivery service.
From April 22 to May 20, New Yorkers can once again enjoy this famous delicacy for just a dollar at select local pizzerias.
The $1 cheese slice has been a staple of New York City’s culinary landscape, cherished by locals and tourists alike. From hurried lunches to late-night cravings, the slice has long served as a quick and satisfying option for city dwellers.
Howard Migdal, CEO of Grubhub, which owns Seamless, said the return of the cheap slice celebrates a piece of New York’s vast food culture.

As a company born in NYC, we know what this slice means to people,” Migdal said. “It’s about culture, convenience, and that authentic NYC flavor. We’re proud to bring it back and celebrate the food culture that makes this city unlike anywhere else.”
More than 40 pizzerias across all five boroughs, including Luigi’s Pizza, Rocco Pizza and 2 Bros. Pizza, are participating in the fun. The full list of participating eateries can be found online. Orders are limited to one per day, allowing up to five $1 slices in each order, and must be made for pick-up.
The management team at 2 Bros. Pizza expressed their enthusiasm for the promotion.
“I’ve watched this city change over the years, but nothing beats that look on someone’s face when they fold a hot $1 cheese slice and take that first bite—it never changes,” a 2 Bros. Pizza representative said. “Teamed up with Seamless, we get to celebrate the $1 cheese slice tradition with our loyal customers and introduce a whole new generation to what makes New York pizza so special.”
In addition to reinstating the beloved slice, Seamless is offering New Yorkers a range of other discounts and deals from popular local restaurants, including zero delivery and service fees at participating locations, as well as weekly doorbuster deals up to 50% off orders over $30 at well-known spots like Di Fara Pizza and Katz’s Delicatessen.
