Six people were cuffed in connection to a robbery that left one person injured on a Midtown train over the weekend.
Authorities say that at 8 p.m. on April 2, a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were riding a southbound 1 train in the vicinity of 7th Avenue and West 34 Street when they were approached by six suspects. Police say that the suspects demanded the male victim’s shoes while pulling out a kitchen knife and a switchblade.
The suspects also tried to take the woman’s cellphone and punched her multiple times in the face during the attempt, but were unsuccessful. After the train pulled into the 28th Street station, the suspects fled with the male victim’s wallet and cellphone. The female victim was treated on scene for pain to her face.
The six suspects were brought into custody on April 4. Newark, New Jersey resident Kyle Carmichael, 29, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and robbery, and 21-year-old Bronx resident Kareem Reynolds was charged with robbery. The other four suspects, a 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl, were all charged with robbery. The teens’ identities are being withheld due to their age.
