Black smoke rose on the water as work building the Tribeca section of the Hudson River Park continued this week. Noreen Doyle, a vice president of the Hudson River Park Trust, said the Trust is using environmentally-friendly equipment which operates on low-sulfur diesel, but there will still be black smoke at times. The Trust joined many of the other government agencies, and developers doing large construction projects Downtown and signed an agreement pledging to use “greener” machines on their projects.
