Spectrum and Schneps Media will be presenting an important event that will focus on finding solutions to closing the technology gap and resolving digital inequities in neighborhoods across New York City.

All are invited to participate in our special event, “Spectrum and Schneps Media Present: Broadband, Access, and Equity: Bridging the Digital Divide in New York,” which will take place on Tuesday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at Guttman Community College in Manhattan.

“The internet has become ubiquitous with everything we do from education to work and from news to social interaction,” said Joshua Schneps, CEO of Schneps Media. “It is critically important that every New Yorker has access and this event is a great opportunity to bring together key stakeholders to discuss progress. We are pleased to partner with Spectrum and have such a great lineup of speakers from which to learn and network.”

Digital inequities and the technology gap are among the most pressing issues facing New York City today. Residents of traditionally underserved communities across the five boroughs often lack access to high-speed internet, which negatively impacts their ability to obtain good-paying remote jobs.

Students who lack high-speed internet access at home also have great difficulty accessing remote learning and other resources to enhance the quality of their education.  The “Bridging the Digital Divide in New York” event on September 24 will feature panel discussions with New York City Schools Chancellor David Banks, New York City Chief Technology Officer Matthew Fraser and NYC Department of Education Chief of Student Pathways Jade Grieve, who will provide insight on the technological challenges facing public school students and finding solutions to them.

They will be joined by speakers including Joshua Schneps, chief executive officer of Schneps Media; and Spectrum’s Camille Joseph-Goldman, group vice president of state government affairs, and Rodney Capel, vice president of state government affairs, and New York City Chief Technology Officer Matthew Fraser.

“From investing to deploy internet access to reach unserved New Yorkers, to continually upgrading our network to provide fast and reliable broadband products at great value, to addressing affordability and adoption barriers, Spectrum is increasing connectivity across the state of New York,” said Camille Joseph-Goldman, Group Vice President for Government Affairs at Spectrum. “Our collaboration with Schneps Media highlights our commitment to increasing opportunity by helping to bridge the digital divide. It’s a privilege to be part of this essential dialogue, and I’m filled with hope for the innovative solutions we will create together.”

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn more about “Bridging the Digital Divide in New York” and connecting all New Yorkers, regardless of where they live, to 21st century technology.
