A Staten Island man was arrested for allegedly injuring a woman with an explosive in Midtown earlier this spring.
On July 7, police arrested 24-year-old Mohammed Othman, of Drumgoole Road West, in connection with the attack.
According to police, at 6 p.m. on May 20, Othman allegedly displayed an explosive device while riding in the back of a pickup truck in the vicinity of West 47th Street and 1st Avenue. Othman then allegedly threw the device, which detonated on a 55-year-old woman. The victim suffered burns and was taken to Bellevue Hospital via EMS, where she was treated and released.
Othman was charged with one count of gang assault as a hate crime, one count of assault as a hate crime, and one count of reckless endangerment as a hate crime.
