Sat., May 21, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (rain date, Sun., May 22), the Third Annual Earth Celebrations’ Hudson River Pageant, with a cast of 500, will enliven the Lower West Side waterfront. Thirteen site-specific performances will highlight the restoration of the Hudson River’s species and habitats, as well as address climate change. The parade will feature giant, 15-foot river species puppets and costumes representing oysters, seahorses, wetlands and more. The procession will start at the Irish Hunger Memorial, at Murray St. in Rockefeller Park, at 1 p.m. and continue up the waterfront to the Hudson River Park’s Village section. Performances at various spots on the route will include an oyster garden planting, live fish release, river cleansing ceremony and, at 4 p.m., a choreographed boat dance and harmonic chant concert at Horatio St. in Hudson River Park.
