A three-alarm blaze destroyed a mixed-used building in Brooklyn on Monday morning.
At 7:07 a.m. on May 2, the FDNY responded to reports of a fire at 5401 7th Ave. in Sunset Park. A fire had broken out on the first floor of the building, a grocery store, and arriving units were met with a heavy volume of fire.
By 7:23 a.m., the fire rose to a two alarm fire and became a three-alarm fire by 7:47 a.m. as the fire extended to the second, third, fourth-floor apartments and through the roof. Units used six hose lines to knock down the main body of fire, and the fire was brought under control about two hours later.
Two firefighters and one civilian suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire. Ten e-bikes were removed from the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
