New York is a center of art and culture. And now, the works of contemporary artists will be featured on a 15,000-square-foot billboard in Times Square, all designed to make art easier for New Yorkers and visitors to encounter and enjoy.

Cube Art Fair, which proclaims itself as the “world’s largest public art fair,” will return to the Big Apple with a public art exhibit at the crossroads of the world, Sept. 4 to 8. The event coincides with the annual Armory Show that showcases modern art at the Javits Center the same week.

The fair, which aims to make art accessible to everyone, features large displays designed to catch the eyes of hundreds of thousands of people who pass through Times Square each day. This year’s fair, which will be located at 47 Street and Seventh Avenue, will feature the works of at least 15 notable contemporary artists including Luciana Gomez, Art by Fez, Olivia de Posson and Serge Strosberg.

The fair has an easy admission policy: Being completely free to enjoy, New Yorkers and tourists just have to walk by to see it.

“Cube Art Fair isn’t just an art exhibition—it’s a shift in how we experience and engage with art,” Gregoire Vogelsang, founder of Cube Art Fair, said. “It’s about art coming to see you, whether you’re a tourist in Times Square, a commuter in a rush or a local just out for a walk, it reminds everyone that art should be a dialogue between the artist and the public.”

As an international art fair founded in 2016 that “challenges traditional notions of art accessibility” by bringing art directly to the public, Cube Art Fair provides artists with a platform to reach a wide audience.
