Two men have been arrested in two unrelated Manhattan murders.
On May 15, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and a 911 call of a man possibly shot at 327 East 3rd Street in Alphabet City at 11:18 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers found 39-year-old Bronx resident Brandon Atkinson at the corner of Avenue D and East 3rd Street unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head.
Paramedics rushed Atkinson to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead.
On Aug. 9, police arrested Zymir Humphrey, 18, in connection to the shooting. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
In an unrelated incident, police arrested a man in connection to a fatal stabbing that took place over the weekend at a Chelsea homeless shelter. According to the NYPD, at 2:05 p.m. on Aug. 6 officers responded to a 911 call regarding an assault in progress inside The Christopher, located at 202 West 24th Street. Upon their arrival, officers found 62-year-old Anthony McEnteer, a resident of the shelter, with a stab wound to his torso.
Paramedics rushed McEnteer to Lenox Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A weapon was recovered from the scene.
On Aug. 9, another resident of the shelter, 59-year-old Paul De Medina, was arrested in connection to the stabbing. He was charged with murder.
