Detectives in the Bronx are searching for a brazen perp who allegedly stabbed a man multiple times early Monday morning.
According to law enforcement sources, on July 1 at around 4:30 a.m., the 38-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk in front of a single-family home located at 3011 Albany Crescent in Kingsbridge Heights when two men approached him.
It is unclear right now if the duo said anything when they first encountered the victim, but one of the men began stabbing him multiple times throughout his body, police said.
When the perp felt the assault was over, he and his partner in crime immediately fled the scene on foot, heading southbound on Heath Avenue before officers from the 50th Precinct arrived, according to official sources.
EMS responded and rushed the bloodied victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
As the investigation is still in the early stages, police could not confirm what might have led to the attack, but said the perp did not know his victim.
So far, no arrests have been made, but the NYPD on Tuesday released surveillance footage of the attacker. Police describe him as having a medium complexion and was last seen wearing dark clothing.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding the attack can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
According to the latest police data, violent crime including murder, rape and felony assault is down year-to-date from this time last year in Kingsbridge and surrounding neighborhoods within the 50th Precinct. However, overall crime is up a mere 0.76% in the area during the same time period.
