Workers were recently busy toting long 2-by-4’s into the Waverly Restaurant on Sixth Ave. The classic Greenwich Village diner closed not long ago, allegedly for renovations. But activist Bill Dobbs, who a little while ago lamented the closing of the Bagel Buffet just up the avenue at Eighth St., wasn’t so sure the place will really reopen. Dobbs noted the Waverly was a favorite of the late radical attorney Bill Kunstler. Some decades ago, it used to be known as The Twins restaurant. Last week, asked if it would reopen as the Waverly, a worker just grunted an affirmation and gave a thumbs up as he headed for another load of boards.
