Detectives in Midtown are looking for the culprit who stabbed a young woman to death near the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Tuesday night.

Officers from the Midtown South Precinct responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress outside a restaurant at 304 West 40 St. at approximately 10:17 p.m. on June 11.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman with a stab wound to her chest, police said.

EMS responded and rushed the young woman to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue where she was pronounced dead. Police are withholding the victim’s name until the family is notified.

The NYPD has not released a description of any suspects yet, but an article in the New York Post reports that a woman wearing a white shirt and blue jeans had been seen fleeing from the scene along Eighth Avenue.

So far, no arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
