Police in Manhattan are searching for a suspect who allegedly sucker punched a senior citizen on an Upper West Side street last week.
According to law enforcement sources, the 77-year-0ld woman was walking in front of 27 W. 72nd St. on the Upper West Side when she was randomly attacked on Friday, Sept. 13, at around 2 p.m.
Without saying a word, police said, the perp delivered the violent blow to the senior’s face, striking her left eye. Authorities said the attack was unprovoked, and the victim and suspect did not know each other.
After packing the wallop, the suspect fled the scene on foot, westbound on 72 Street toward Columbus Avenue.
Meanwhile, the victim sustained minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital. The attack occurred the same day an 81-year-old woman was punched in the head, also in an Upper West Side neighborhood. Video on Fox 5 NY shows the horrifying incident.
So far, no arrests have been made, but police on Wednesday released a surveillance photo and video of the suspect, who remains at large.
He is described as having a medium build, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, tan pants and white sneakers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
