Police arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly shooting to death a woman who was trying to stop her husband from getting robbed in a Lower Manhattan apartment building last week.

Law enforcement sources said police are withholding the brutal killer’s name due to his age. He was arrested and charged on Sept. 19 at 7:30 a.m. within the confines of 5th Precinct, where the incident occurred.

The teen is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, as well as burglary and weapons charges in connection with the Sept. 9 killing of 57-year-old Ying Zhu Liu inside the building, located at 44 Market St.

According to law enforcement sources, two suspects followed Liu’s husband into his apartment building, where he lived with his family. The husband and perpetrators took the elevator to the 8th floor, where the robbery occurred.

Hearing the chaos outside, Liu left her apartment with her 32-year-old son to try to thwart the robbery and protect her husband when one of the gunmen shot her in the face.

Cops said the suspects, who took the husband’s cell phone, fled the building on foot.

Officers from the 5th Precinct responded along with EMS units, who pronounced Liu dead.

Police are still searching for the second suspect, and the investigation remains ongoing.
