New Year’s Eve can be a magical time for the millions of people who choose to ring in the new year in New York City, but for motorists it’s mostly a time to dread getting behind the wheel.
Streets near Times Square will shut down on Monday for the ball drop, and the influx of tourists won’t make it any easier to get around.
If you absolutely must drive somewhere, check this list of street closures first:
- All streets from 37th Street to 57th Street will be closed to all vehicles between Sixth and Eighth avenues.
- All streets from 37th Street to 57th Street will be closed to commercial vehicles and trucks between Fifth and Ninth avenues.
- Sixth Avenue will be closed to commercial vehicles and trucks from 34th to 59th streets.
- Broadway will be closed to all vehicles from 43rd Street to Columbus Circle.
- Seventh Avenue will be closed to all vehicles from 41st to 59th streets.
- Eighth Avenue will be closed to commercial vehicles and trucks from 34th Street to Columbus Circle.
- 35th and 36th streets will be closed to commercial vehicles and trucks between Fifth and Sixth avenues.
- 58th and 59th streets will be closed to commercial vehicles and trucks between Fifth and Sixth avenues and between Eighth and Ninth avenues.
