Bronx man booked for allegedly stabbing his former attorney to death in Queens

Detectives in Queens arrested a Bronx man accused of murdering his former attorney in the victim’s office last week.

Nando Perez, 64, of East 167th Street faces murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges for the Aug. 5 slaying of Charles Zolot, 65, a Kew Gardens resident who had a practice in Jackson Heights.

Police said Zolot was found stabbed in the torso and face inside his office at 37-06 82nd St. at about 5:50 a.m. on Aug. 5. Responding EMS units pronounced him dead at the scene.

Sources familiar with the investigation said that Zolot and Perez had been previously involved in a dispute for reasons not disclosed. Perez was apparently a former client.

Law enforcement sources did not provide details as to how Perez was directly linked to the homicide through the investigation.

According to court records, Perez was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Aug. 9 and ordered held without bail. He’s scheduled to return to court for an Aug. 13 appearance.
